POSITION OBJECTIVE
Bethesda’s Children’s services requires one (1) Full Time Manager, Children and Youth Services
Working to promote Bethesda’s values, vision and mission statement, The Manager, Children and Youth Services is responsible for the daily operations, to include the planning, coordination, and administration of the various programs in the Children and Youth Services area to ensure the goals and objectives of the organization and programs are met.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and staff management on a day to day basis. Ensure a harmonious work environment is practiced within Children and Youth Services and resolve all interpersonal concerns reflective of Bethesda policy and procedure and Bethesda Mission, Vision and Values.
- Ensure all new hire employees receive specific and ongoing orientation to Bethesda and Children and Youth Services.
- Provide ongoing mentoring, coaching and training to staff to develop, enhance staff knowledge base and skill levels.
- Ensure staff receive appropriate training including all Bethesda Mandatory Training.
- Ensure appropriate staffing in place at all times to enable programs to meet program objectives and organizational objectives.
- Process all time off requests in a timely manner.
- Conduct all required performance management functions including annual performance reviews and participate in regular performance management functions with staff.
- Ensure appropriate and productive staff meetings occur throughout Children and Youth Services and participate as required.
- Ensure programs are aligned with current Ministry of Children and Youth Services (MCYS) directives and expectations.
- Ensure program development is in alignment with Bethesda’s strategic directions and ministry directives.
- Design, implement, coordinate and evaluate various plans and programs to ensure programs are effective in meeting the stated goals for all stakeholders.
- Establish various program goals in collaboration with the appropriate staff and ensure goals are aligned with program and organizational strategic goals.
- Facilitate change management, as required, from development to implementation and evaluation.
- Encourage and facilitate innovation in delivery of services and programs.
- Participate in the preparation of the program’s annual budget with the Director, Children and Youth Services.
- Ensure fiscal responsibility through budget management.
- Oversee various financial management tasks such as petty cash reconciliations and cost recoveries (all stages).
- Monitor departmental time sheets to ensure staffing costs remain within allocated resources.
- Ensure compliance by all staff with all internal Bethesda policies and procedures, legislation and applicable Collective Agreements. Ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken as required.
- Ensure appropriate training and communication of all new or amended policies and procedures to appropriate staff.
- Promote public awareness of the program in conjunction with the Director, Children and Youth Services and Community Relations Coordinator.
- Provide leadership and initiate in the developing and maintaining positive relationships with groups, community organizations and key stakeholders.
- Ensure open and available internal communication channels for all staff within Children and Youth Services.
- Ensure programs maintain a positive and productive relationship with internal and external partners.
- Ensure Children and Youth Services is involved and invested with day to day operations of Bethesda.
- Comply with Bethesda policies and procedures relating to health and safety.
- Responsible for reporting all health and safety concerns immediately following the Internal Responsibility System.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- University Degree in a related area.
- Formal management training.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a clinical leadership position.
- Minimum of two years of experience in the field of Developmental Disabilities.
- Knowledge of community services for children and families in the Niagara Region.
- Experience working with children who have a Developmental Disability or an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
- Knowledge and understanding of Developmental Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Applied Behavioural Analysis and Intensive Behavioural Intervention.
- Experience working collaboratively with community organizations and families.
- Experience with data collection and analysis.
- Experience working within a multi disciplinary team.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- First Aid Training and CPR Certification.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certified.
- Professional Communication Skills: professionally represents the company through strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Teamwork: excels at working with others and communicating with a team to provide the most effective support to clients.
- Problem-Solving: able to navigate challenges and barriers, always looks for potential pitfalls and risks to help mitigate problems ahead of time, and knows when to ask for help.
